Las Vegas makes top 10 in ‘hunkiest’ cities

According to a new study by me, there are a lot of corporations sending self-serving (but not useless) internal surveys to newspapers across America.

The latest: On Monday, we received a corporate study (complete with a drag-and-drop graphic) claiming Las Vegas is the eighth “Hunkiest” city in these United States.

How does one define “hunky?” It’s all subjective. Personally, I’d define a hunk as a shaved-headed chubby newspaper writer who spent the Fourth of July playing video games and listening to Lana Del Rey.

But the real estate site Trulia (the company that sent us this graphic) defined hunky cities based on “the number of households per tanning beds, gyms, barbers, beauty salons, bars and nightclub establishments, as well as the proportion of the population that are single men.”

That resulted in this top 10: 1. San Diego. 2. San Francisco. 3. Orange County, Calif. 4. Boston. 5. Austin. 6. Los Angeles. 7. Seattle. 8. Las Vegas. 9. Portland. 10. Chicago.

Yay, we’re No. 8. Symbolically, eight is the number of infinity, which is how long exercising-to-get-hunkier feels to me.
