Jack White is tired of everyone talking about guacamole

LOS ANGELES — Jack White is fed up with your guacamole jokes. In a new letter dubbed “FOR GOD SAKES!,” the Grammy-winning musician slammed the media’s obsession with his concert tour rider, which recently leaked at the University of Oklahoma and included certain pre-show demands like a no-tolerance policy for bananas as well as a guacamole recipe.

“Even in the age of the short attention span Internet article, it’s still hard to believe you are STILL writing about this,” he said, linking to an NPR article published on Sunday.

“First off, this is none of your business,” he said, before explaining that the drink and food stipulations were primarily for the crew, both as a joke and for health reasons (one crew member is apparently allergic to bananas).

“People WANT a rider to be a list of demands that a diva insists occur lest he or she refuse to play a note of music. But in reality, it’s just some food and drinks backstage for the hundred workers and guests who have to live in a concrete bunker for 15 hours,” he said. “I defend the right to free information in regards to public funds, but never in my 20 years of playing shows has my contract and tour rider been published in the paper that I recall.”

According to White, stories like his are making national headlines because journalists are choosing “click bait” over the facts, something the musician has debated in the past, targeting such publications as Rolling Stone.

After the University of Oklahoma’s newspaper published the leaked contract, White’s booking agency William Morris Endeavor Entertainment banned its artists from performing at the school.

“I know it’s a fun thing for people to try to turn me into a jerk and a diva, but in this case it’s pretty ridiculous and has almost nothing to do with me,” he said.

“Can I go back to making music now?”
