Husband’s health behind Celine’s short run at Caesars

Celine Dion’s decision to limit her return, after a one-year hiatus, to 40 shows suggests she’s taking a wait-and-see approach to her husband’s health issues.

Dion announced on ABC last week that she would resume her residency at Caesars Palace on Aug. 27.

She had canceled all shows, including an Asian tour, last August to spend time with her ailing husband, Rene Angelil, and her three children.

“It was Rene’s wish that I come back,” she said last week. He has been battling throat cancer.

Singer Josh Groban, who opened for Dion when he was 17, hinted Wednesday that her voice is sustaining Angelil through his struggles.

“It gives him life,” Groban said on the CBS show “The Talk” on Wednesday.

Her upcoming run, the shortest of her 12-year relationship with Caesars and AEG Live, would end Jan. 17.

During her appearance on ABC, she revealed she feeds Angelil via a feeding tube three times a day.

Her contract at Caesars Palace runs until 2019.

In a video shot by a fan, John starts to play “Philadelphia Freedom” then walks off stage. That was mild compared to a meltdown two years ago when he splashed bottled water on the stage several times and vowed somebody was going to get fired. …
