Bono is sorry he put U2’s new album on everyone’s iCloud.
In a video Q & A on Facebook, the frontman said the release was a “drop of megalomania, a touch of generosity.”
The answer was in response to the question, “Can you please never release and album on iTunes that automatically downloads to peoples [sic] playlists ever again? It’s really rude.”
The album, “Songs of Innocence,” was released last month to over 500 million people in 119 countries. BBC reports that only five percent of those actually downloaded the album.
Rock legend Iggy Pop criticized the band shortly after, saying the band was “giving away music before it can flop, in an effort to stay huge.”
U2’s last album, “No Line on the Horizon,” was released in 2009, and topped charts in the U.S. and U.K.
