On Friday, June 24, fans of IKEA’s restaurant can indulge in an AYCE buffet featuring classic Swedish fare — meatballs and lingonberry juice included, of course — at the store’s “Midsummer Smörgåsboard” event.
The event, held annually to celebrate the arrival of summer, follows the Swedish tradition of celebrating “midsommar” — recognized across the globe as the longest day of the year, according to a news release.
Tickets are $16.99 per person and $4.99 for children 12 and under. Members of the Family loyalty program are eligible for discounted tickets — $12.99 per person and $2.99 for children 12 and under.
The menu for IKEA’s Midsummer Smörgåsboard event includes:
Assorted varieties of herring
Hard boiled eggs with shrimp
Gravad lax with mustard sauce
Smoked salmon with horseradish sauce
Poached salmon
Tossed green salad
Cucumber salad
Midsummer fruit salad
Assorted Swedish cheeses
Boiled dill potatoes or mashed potatoes
Meatballs with lingonberries
Prinskorv sausage
Crispbread, thin bread, dinner rolls
Assorted desserts
Coffee, tea, fountain beverages
To accommodate as many guests as possible, IKEA is holding two separate seating times for the Midsummer buffet — 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m — with each dinner being open to 300 guests. Due to limited seating, guests are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance at IKEA.
On the day of the event, seating is first come first serve.
