Dining Out: Hussong’s Cantina

HUSSONG’S CANTINA, 740 S. RAMPART BLVD.

Hussong’s Cantina has opened a second Las Vegas location in the Boca Park Fashion Village. The margarita reportedly was created at Hussong’s original location in Ensenada, Mexico, in 1941, and so the new one naturally serves a selection that includes the Original Margarita, lychee, El Pepino (with jalapeno and cilantro), raspberry and more, as well as tequilas, wines, beers and cocktails. Somewhat more casual than the Mandalay Place branch, it’s a fast-casual restaurant and has a spacious patio as well as indoor seating. Here’s a sample of the menu:

Starters: Bottomless chips with salsa bar, $1.95; guacamole, $4.45; habanero-mango guacamole, $5.25; nachos, $6.95 (plus $2 for chicken, steak, carnitas or barbacoa); street-style corn, $4.95; pozole soup, $4.95; borracho pinto beans, $1.95.

Tacos: Barbacoa, steak, carnitas, Baja shrimp, Baja fish, veggie delight or fried avocado, $9.95 for two, with cilantro rice and borracho pinto beans; Kung Pow Shrimp, salmon, pork belly or rib-eye, $11.95 for two, with cilantro rice and borracho pinto beans.

Burritos and bowls: Chicken, steak, carnitas or barbacoa burrito, $8.95; smothered burrito, $1 extra; taco salads or rice bowls, $9.95.

Hours are from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, with happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 3 to 6 p.m. Fridays and Sundays. Call 702-778-2160 or visit www.hussongscantina.com.
