The Airborne Toxic Event adding atmosphere to dramatic rock
July 20, 2012 - 1:08 am
Orchestral rock is synonymous with pomp and pageantry.
But L.A.'s The Airborne Toxic Event, at the Hard Rock tonight but who have performed with symphonies upon occasion, keep things svelte and streamlined.
When they incorporate string sections into their dusky, dramatic indie rock performances, the band does so in a way that heightens the atmosphere and melodrama in their shadowy tunes but without instrumental bloat.
Think of it as symphonic rock on a diet.
