Gary Clark Jr. bringing his guitar to Cosmo pool

Gary Clark Jr. talks a big game, though talking isn’t what he does best.

“I don’t believe in competition,” he announces on “Ain’t Messin’ ’Round,” the opening track of his latest record, “Blak and Blu.” “Ain’t nobody else like me around.”

This isn’t necessarily the case, as Clark’s vintage sounding blues rock bombast is plenty reminiscent of fellow throwbacks The Black Keys.

What distinguishes Clark is his virtuoso guitar playing, which is equally emotive and electric and every bit as expressive as his voice.

Yes, the man can sing.

But this goes double for his Gibson.
