NYC celeb hot spot reveals opening date for Las Vegas restaurant
Get ready for pizza rolls, Las Vegas.
The Corner Store, the New York City restaurant famed for attracting Taylor Swift and other celebs, uber-tough-to-score tables and signature five-cheese pizza rolls (à la Tostino’s but given a posh makeover), is accepting reservations for its outpost opening Nov. 9 in The Cosmopolitan on the Strip, MGM Resorts announced Friday.
On the menu
The project, the first expansion for the restaurant, comes courtesy of Eugene Remm, Tilman Fertitta and Catch Hospitality Group, which opened Catch at Aria, also an MGM resort, in 2018. Michael Vignola, executive chef of Corner Store in New York, is joining Daniel Bernardo, executive chef of the Vegas location, to present American standards with a stylish spin.
Look for the pizza rolls accompanied by whipped ranch for dunking, lobster and caviar rolls with tarragon-celery remoulade, a Corner Store Caesar salad populated by everything bagel croutons and cream cheeese croquettes, and a wagyu French dip built using Westholme Australian ribeye slowly roasted for 72 hours.
Corner Store will also offer only-in-Vegas chops such as a wagyu tomahawk and wagyu porterhouse from Rosewood Beef of Texas. Seasonal crudos, seasonally sourced salads and large-format shared plates help round out the menu.
In the glass
The martini takes pride of place in the beverage program created by Lucas Robinson, Catch Hospitality’s beverage director, and Gedeon Tsegaye, The Cosmopolitan’s head of mixology.
New York favorites such as a Tomato Martini, a Sour Cream & Onion Martini and roomy martinis serving two to three imbibers are making the trip west; a Vegas-only pour delivers a take on Oli’s Dirty Martini with a trio of mascarpone caviar olives.
Look and feel
Rockwell Group — the firm behind the original Corner Store in SoHo — is also designing the Vegas restaurant, which occupies the former Blue Ribbon American Grill & Oyster Bar space on the third floor of the property. Wood-frame doors and tinted fluted glass anchor a dramtic exterior layered with amber drapery, illuminated stained-glass and art deco-inspired accents.
Inside, the restaurant unfurls across the main bar, the Martini Room with a striking green onyx bar, and a main dining room with arches, herringbone wood floors, tailored banquettes and images of New York City. A private dining room lies off the main dining room, can seat up to 24 and features golden plaster, polished burl wood, layered lighting and a partition that can divide the room into smaller spaces.
The Corner Store will serve from 5 to 10 p.m Sundays through Thursdays and 5 p.m. to late Fridays and Saturdays. Reservations: cosmopolitanlasvegas.mgmresorts.com or 702-675-9828.
