‘Disney’s Newsies’

Super Summer Theatre opens its season with “Disney’s Newsies,” based on the movie about the newsboys strike of 1899 during which young newspaper sellers stood up for their rights. See it at 8:05 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Wednesday, with additional performances through June 13, at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park. Tickets start at $28; supersummertheatre.org.

‘Ephemeral Recomposition’

Through June 6, Left of Center Gallery hosts the exhibition “Ephemeral Recomposition” by Las Vegas artist Jeannie Hua. Displaying her life through scraps of ephemera, Hua aims “to make her images serve as an analogy, a parallel to the pieces of a jigsaw puzzle we are all a part of, each piece integral to the big picture.” The nonprofit gallery, 2207 W. Gowan Road, is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. The exhibition is free, but donations are appreciated; leftofcenterart.org.

friday

Pink Pelvis

The King goes blue with “Pink Pelvis,” the adult, Elvis-inspired parody and variety show featuring burlesque star Kalani Kokonuts, hula hoop virtuoso Michelle Bell, balloon-art provocateur Tawney Bubbles, live music and plenty more tongue-in-cheek hijinks at 8:30 p.m. Friday at The Space, 3460 Cavaretta Court. Tickets start at $30; pinkpelvis.com.

saturday

Freddie Gibbs

“Ice cold, but still highly flammable,” rapper Freddie Gibbs continues to bring the heat on “Alfredo 2,” his by-turns scalding and soulful latest collab with producer The Alchemist, who remains one of the best in the game. See Gibbs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay. Tickets are $57; ticketmaster.com.

sunday

Bottomless Drag Brunch

Beginning at noon Sunday, S Bar in Mandalay Bay is presenting a drag brunch with a 90-minute show, a welcome shot, five dishes served family-style for the table and bottomless mimosas. The cast variously features performers from “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” “America’s Got Talent” and the Vegas drag community. Tickets are $79.08; OpenTable.

Thievery Corporation

Thievery Corporation’s globe-trotting, world music-informed trip-hop expertly locates the middle ground between the chilled out and the invigorated, spanning bossa nova, Indian classical music, Middle Eastern sounds, reggae and more. See them at 8 p.m. Sunday at Bel-Aire Backyard at Durango. Tickets start at $56; axs.com.

tuesday

‘Shucked’

It’s the corniest musical you’ll ever experience, and that’s by design. A farmgirl named Maizy leaves rural Cob County to try to find a way to keep the local corn crop from dying in “Shucked.” See it at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, with additional performances through June 7, in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center. Tickets start at $40.30; thesmithcenter.com.

wednesday

Wine Wednesdays

From 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, The Las Vegas Farm and Barn Buddies animal rescue, 7222 W. Grand Teton Ave., will launch Wine Wednesdays, a quarterly fundraiser for the feeding and care of animals at the farm. The event features wine tastings, appetizers, live music and a prize raffle. Tickets are $50; givebutter.com/LVFarm-Wine-Wednesdays.

Fallout Fringe Festival

Fallout Fringe Festival is back for its second year of celebrating some of the boldest, riskiest and, at times, head-scratching-est theater around. More than 35 productions, workshops, pop-ups and parties will take over Vegas Theatre Company, Third Street, Majestic Repertory Theatre, Cornish Pasty Co. and Bizarre Bar throughout June. A launch party with live entertainment, games and food and drink vendors will include chances to meet some of the artists and organizers. It’s scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday at Goodman Plaza, 525 S. Main St. For a full festival schedule and tickets, see falloutfringe.org.
