Go time: This Vegas lounge still rocks after 20 years

Twenty years is a long time for any Las Vegas entertainment venue to keep shows purring along. Resort officials are apt to turn a wonderful lounge into a money-making annex, shout “Bingo!” and call it a night.

But Rocks Lounge survives, as unique as the day it — and Red Rock Resort — opened 20 years ago. The showman who opened the venue in the spring of 2006, Chris Phillips of Zowie Bowie, returns Saturday night to celebrate and high-kick his way through a Top 40 set.

Rocks Lounge is also home to such acts as Franky and the All Nighters (returning April 24) and ’80s Station (April 25). In May, look for yachtvrock masters The Windjammers, tribute act ’90s Station (similar to ’80s Station, but for the decade), “Rene Hale’s Las Vegas Legends,” Bonkerz Comedy and rock cover band Phoenix, among many other popular local acts.
