Go time: The Space goes bigger with a cozy venue
The Space has a little more space.
The Back Space is being revived. This is the cozy performance spot just off the main showroom entrance.
The venue was open for occasional shows shortly after The Space premiered in March 2017. Proprietor Mark Shunock is loading in a “killer” sound and lighting system in a venue that opens other options for creative types in VegasVille.
A pair of Vegas performers with legendary rock affiliation will play at 8 p.m. Wednesday (doors at 7): John Wedemeyer of the Beach Boys and Bucky Heard of the Righteous Brothers headline “Surf & Soul,” a celebration of the classics with Heard on vocals and Wedemeyer on acoustic. Tickets are $25 for the all-ages performance.
Before that, it’s a piano showman who is only busier around town since Don’t Tell Mama closed at Neonopolis. Kenny Davidsen’s “Kennyoake” open-mic show Saturday will run from 9 p.m. to midnight. No cover.
