5 Las Vegas restaurants to try this week
Date night
You can celebrate Valentine's Day with your love bird without breaking the bank. The year's second sandwich of the month at Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken is the Love Bird, which is crispy fried chicken topped with cheesy truffle sweet-potato fries, lettuce, tomato and truffle mayo. It's $8.50 at the restaurant in Downtown Summerlin.
Something new
You may have celebrated the Chinese New Year with a lion dance or some hand-pulled noodles, but we're guessing you've never done it with a cigar. Davidoff Cigar Bar, in front of the Fashion Show Mall at 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering a limited-edition Year of the Monkey cigar, available only at Davidoff retailers. It's available as a single cigar or as a box of 10 in hand-crafted bamboo with laser engraving.
Family fun
Get the family together and take them to the Lenten Fish Fry at Christ the King Catholic Community, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive, between 4 and 7 p.m. Friday. You'll get fried pollack or baked cod, mac and cheese or french fries, cole slaw, roll and butter, dessert, coffee and lemonade, for $8 for adults, $5 for kids younger than 12. The fish fry also will be offered Feb. 19 and 26 and March 4 and 11.
Solo trip
Drown your sorrows — or celebrate your singlehood — and get a free craft beer when you buy one Sunday at Rick's Rollin Smoke BBQ & Tavern at Pawn Plaza, 725 Las Vegas Blvd. South. If you want to splurge, you can get all-you-can-eat brisket, pork, chicken, hot links and ribs, any sides and all-you-can-drink PBR for $40, through the end of February.
For friends
You wouldn't want to drink tequila alone, so do it with your friends at the dinner featuring Avion Tequila at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 18 at El Segundo Sol at the Fashion Show mall, 3200 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The five-course dinner with tequila pairings is $60, plus tax and tip. Call 702-258-1211.
