Cracker Barrel might be coming to Las Vegas

Don’t schedule your rocking-chair time just yet, but Cracker Barrel may be coming to Las Vegas.

Then again, it may not.

Following reports that an application for a large sign bearing the Cracker Barrel name came before the North Las Vegas planning commission in December, rumors started flying that the company was planning to open an outlet here. On Monday, a company spokeswoman said only that she could not confirm that.

In a follow-up call on Tuesday, however, another company spokeswoman said that the sign application was a very preliminary step in a fact-finding process to determine if the company would expand to Las Vegas, something that she said was going on in several cities simultaneously. Asked how long the process would take, she said an opening, if it were to happen, definitely would not be on schedule for 2015.

Stay tuned. In the meantime, Las Vegans in search of country ham and Sunday fried chicken will have to keep driving to the Cracker Barrels in Kingman, Ariz., and St. George, Utah.
