REGISTRATION ENDS JAN. 23 FOR FOOD TRUCK LOTTERY

Food truck operators interested in access to four parking spots in downtown Las Vegas on a rotating basis should register for a lottery by 5 p.m. Jan. 23. The lottery is scheduled for 9 a.m. Jan. 26 in the first-floor training room No. 4 at Las Vegas City Hall, 495 S. Main St.

The city’s mobile food vendor pilot program provides designated parking spaces for food trucks to do business downtown. Registrations will be accepted at the city of Las Vegas Parking Services Office, 500 S. Main St., from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The drawing is restricted to companies licensed to operate mobile food vending trucks inside city limits. Entries are limited to one per company. There is a nonrefundable fee of $50 per licensee to enter the lottery. The mobile food vendor license is not a privileged license and can be obtained at lasvegasnevada.gov/business or by contacting business licensing at 702-229-6281.

Spaces available through the lottery include 200 Lewis Ave., in front of the Regional Justice Center; 335 Ogden Ave., at the corner of Fourth Street and Ogden; and 388 Promenade Place (for one food truck and one dessert truck in the city parking lot for Discovery Children’s Museum in Symphony Park).

WINE AND BEER TASTING TO BENEFIT VEGAS PBS

Southern Nevada Public Television plans to host its 26th annual Splendor in the Glass Wine & Beer Tasting event from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 7 in the ballroom at the Westgate, 5625 W. Flamingo Road. Bellagio executive chef Edmund Wong plans to host the Executive Chef’s Culinary Classroom, a series of interactive, two-hour cooking classes, Feb. 12-Nov. 10. Wong and his culinary team will share ideas and techniques as they guide guests through the steps to creating a three-course meal. Classes will be held in the resort’s demonstration kitchen, Tuscany Kitchen.
