Thrash and burn with a lead-heavy bill via the latest installment of the downtown Rock the Block concert series. Featuring new school deathcore brutes Born of Osiris, femme metal favorites Kittie, hardcore bruisers Stick to Your Guns and many more, the only thing missing from this gig is the neck brace you’ll need the next day.
Queensryche is still a heavy metal band — but it’s performing a cabaret tour (playing Vegas this weekend) featuring burlesque and go-go dancers, ballerinas, drag queens, jugglers and contortionists.
The romance between the French fashion designer (Anna Mouglalis) and the exiled Russian composer (Mads Mikkelsen of “Casino Royale” and “Clash of the Titans”) inspires this drama, based on Chris Greenhaigh’s novel, which flashes forward from their initial meeting, in 1913 Paris, to their passionate affair seven years later. In French, Russian and English, with English subtitles. At Village Square. (120 min.) R; strong sexuality, nudity.
